Mr
So right off the bat, yeah, the whole syncing thing is kind of bleh. But worst case so far is that Ive lost a couple minutes of progress, reloaded, and sprinted back through it. This game is text and choices, so its not like the redo is that hard or takes any time :p
On to the content. Its fantastic. Id been pursuing the "Choice of...." game series for a while because I like choose your own adventure games, but it always felt like I was just making minor choices and branches on a long straight path.
Fallen London bypasses this problem by making lots of bushes. There are collections of choices scattered all over the place, with your actions and choices having a big impact on what youre doing now, as well as smaller (though sometimes significant) impacts on all sorts of other stories through careful, thorough variable and modifier usage.
Youre only ever seeing a fraction of the whole story, so you dont run out of content, but at the same time they keep adding new content and theres a bunch of stuff you havent got to yet, so theres always more to see.
Their variable and choice tracking system is excellent, so you feel like youre really having a long term impact. By far the best "choose your own adventure" style game Ive ever encountered.
