Great choose your own story game

If you really like choose your own adventure games, then this is surely for you. The wait time is reasonable, though it drives me crazy cause its just so addicting to play. I really dont mind the loading time at all, it hasnt been a problem for me. My last review complained about a bug that has now been fixed. So, now I give the game five stars!

Great game, buggy app!

Just updated to the newest version which "fixes" the grey screen. I now have a problem with the grey screen. :/ The game is super fun and I love the story. But a tutorial for how to use the app (for new players) and fixing these bugs would bring it up to five stars!!

Great idea, bad execution.

I read about this game in Rue Morgue magazine and I thought I would give it a try because it sounded right up my alley. I was...for a little while. I am currently stuck in a mission dealing with tattoos and its been the same tasks for two days. Whats the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. Ive read everything and done every single task in my list and nothing. What fun is that?

Highly recommend

This game is perfect for people who enjoy reading, easy gameplay, and a deep story line. My only problem is adding other people, so maybe a system where you have others around your point in the story and add them. Keep up the great work :D

Great game, but...

It wont sync with the current updates so keeps resetting to an earlier save after advancing. :( I will happily change the star rating when the app works properly again.

Loving it!

This game is a lot of fun. Im really enjoying the creative stories and actions. I like that there is a lot to figure out for yourself.

App comments only

Update 2: My syncing issues are resolved! "Try again" button would be wonderful as well as more Sunless Sea integration. Thanks again for releasing this app Update: it can no longer sync to the web site, and is therefore no longer functional The game is great, these are just suggestions regarding he app only. Please: 1. Add the "try again" button as it exists in the browser version; 2. Endeavor to speed up the screen loading time, especially upon launch; and 3. Try to shrink the amount of disk space it uses. A user could download a separate browser dedicated solely to this game and it would take up less room. (I have space constraints on the phone) Regarding the game itself, more integration with Sunless Sea would be wonderful. But as I said earlier, the game is a lot of fun and I recommend it. Thanks for releasing this app.

Lame

Full of glitches. The game freezes up constantly (my phone is brand new, by the way). It is constantly checking for updates and "installing things". I dont want to spend 5 minutes every time I open the app waiting for things to update and install. I just want to play. Once you do get into the actual game, its full of glitchy transitions and freezes up with no controls. I dont understand what is going on. Not worth it.

Amazing

I love the port from the website, Ive been waiting for so long (just like for Zubmariner). The only problems I have are few; I have to scroll all the way down a storylet to tap "perhaps not," when I try to do things with other players (like reduce scandal), it sometimes just doesnt load, and, lastly, it feels really clunky when I zoom out on the map page. Other than that, I love it! I can now take my Fallen London on the go, without the negatives of going on the full site while on mobile. Just wish I knew how to write the texts that happen in my journal. Theres no option for it when youve done an action.

Love It!

My friends had been asking me on and off to play it, but the system of checking every hour or so wouldnt work with my schedule. But now I have the app, and since my phone I always with me I have the ability to play even on trips or in my bed. Ive experienced occasional glitches (sometimes my progress resets instead of syncing) but overall its a really good app of a really good game.

Constantly rolling back character

If you switch between playing on different devices this app will regularly roll back your character wiping out your progress.

Cant play

Unfair rating perhaps. One month and never been able to play. Maybe I try at the wrong times. But is that really an app that any of us want? The one that is highly recommended by the few that got to play when their developers cared?

Needs some work but its a great way to play.

One of my biggest complaints is that when I scroll on either side of the screen it will pull up the side menu unless I go really slowly. There are tiny things that I think could probably be better but Im not an app maker so what do I know?

Crashes. A lot.

Lots of stutters and restarts and long loading screens for no readily apparent reason. Same great gameplay -- if it werent so buggy it would be delightfully convenient.

Exceptional game... Buggy app

Fallen London is a fantastically textured game. It is rich in a particular kind of sooty, joyous mythology that is a bit like Lovecraft rolled up with Dishonored and condensed into a text-based RPG. The art is gorgeous and evocative and the storytelling is fun and well-written. Clearly a lot of love went into the making of it and it shines through (a sickly green, mind, but its endearing all the same). The gameplay itself is fairly straightforward - it doesnt require a steep learning curve, although it is possible to get lost or not be able to understand why something is closed off to you. You have a number of turns you can use before you run out and have to wait for them to refresh, which has the potential to be aggravating but usually succeeds in its goal of getting you to pick it up several times a day so as to not waste the turns. The objectives are fairly unique and often take unexpected twists and turns. There are several completely unique factions you can associate with that add flavour to the dank, dark world they have crafted. Overall, I give the game a 5/5. The atmosphere is ceaselessly delightful, the game mechanics are straightforward but compelling, and the premium options are worth the money without feeling obtrusive or crippling for those who want to play without. However, the app itself has a few issues. It constantly gets stuck on the beginning "checking for content updates" screen and has to be force-closed to try again. The first time I went to sync my character it froze and wouldnt resume. I had to close out and reopen, only to be told I would have to start over since the save data hadnt took. Sometimes it lags in strange ways, or freezes entirely. If the app is made a bit more stable and smooth, I would have no hesitation to give it a full 5 stars!

Interesting but frustrating

The game is interesting but pointless if 4 out of 5 times it fails to sync your data and takes your progress back to a previous save so you have to attempt to replay the last 20 actions. Im deleting the app until I hear that it is less buggy. I enjoy the the gameplay, but not when I have to do it over again and again.

Brilliant writing, for free.

.

I wish the pages wouldnt slide into place

I love the app, but having the pages slide into place instead of just loading statically, is really annoying. I have had a lot of mis-clicks (or mis-taps in this case) because of this.

Great game but iOS app needs work

The game itself is great but the app is slightly disappointing. The syncing issue really makes it frustrating as it forces you to redo actions. You can go through 20 or so actions just to have the sync fail. Then it reverts you back to before you performed all of those actions. However, the writing is great and it so bizarre that it is incredibly interesting. Id play this all of the time if the sync issue was fixed.

Looks good but lacks guidance

This game has a beautiful look. It contains interesting stories and options, and its clear that a lot of thought has been put into the plots and choices. Too bad the same amount of care has not been devoted to game directions or a tutorial. The lack of instructions is very frustrating. The game mentions cards that you can use for various things but buries any help on how to find or use them. Im not even sure what the point is. Deleting this one until/if a good tutorial ever is added.
