Fallen London App Reviews

Favorite game on the App Store

This game is one of the most engaging game on the App Store and by far the deepest and is updated monthly.

A literary masterpiece

This is a neat app version of their web based game, which has extremely favorable reviews. This game is like reading a well written book. It is a little confusing at first, but keep at it and it will slowly reveal more and more of itself to you. Best of all I have been playing it for about 3 weeks now and have never felt the need to pay any money at all. I strongly advise anyone who enjoys strong verse to play this game. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it and learn about the quirky world of Fallen London.

Literary Masterpiece Made Mobile

Ive thoroughly enjoyed this game for quite some time now. The writing is incredible, and quite a lot of work has been put into the world and lore Failbetter has worked so hard to build. With me not owning a functioning computer at present, this is one of the best things Ive yet encountered on the App Store

The best game about subterranean Victorian metropolises ever

This game could absorb you for years. The sheer amount of story content available (and the quality) boggles the mind. Having it available for iOS, instead of just as a flash game, means we iOS-heads can appreciate it. One missing feature drives me crazy, its a tiny thing but it matters to me: you cant save the results of an action to your journal. This prevents me from recording important story content unless I just take screenshots. A trivial thing in the big picture but I hope they fix this soon.

Life ruining in the best way

Id never have found the browser version without stumbling across the game in the App Store. Its incredibly confusing, especially at first. The app lacks a repeat action button. Actions - even with the paid subscription - refresh too slowly. It is horrible and wonderful and has stolen significant amounts of my time for months now. One of the best RPG experiences Ive ever had. Creative stories and an incredible amount of content. The paid content is generally worth the money and the developers arent pushy about it, which is a deal breaker for me.

Great story, buggy app.

Like the other reviews said, this game is great. Unfortunately the app itself tends to be buggy. Sometimes it would crash expectedly or it wouldnt open at all. Sometimes after entering my credentials it wouldnt even load the game. Please dont let this discourage you from playing this great game, but if you want a smoother experience, play the desktop version.

Looks cool, BUT......

The artwork and writing show that the creators to great care in putting out a good product. What keeps it from being a great product? Instructions or a tutorial. I played for a few weeks hoping I would get the hang of it. I never did. I couldnt figure out if the choices I made were making a difference and I didnt know what my final goal was. I would love to download this game once it has a tutorial. But for now, up to the cloud it goes.

Failbetter Sure Fits

Cant get app to download recent stories, but it wont continue without doing so either. Uninstalled/reinstalled several times and restarted phone.

Cant sign up or log in...

Tapping the email address field crashes the app. Same deal with Google and Twitter (why it doesnt use the Twitter and Facebook built in xcode API is beyond me). iOS 9.0.3

Stellar writing, but known bugs erase progress

Ive been playing a few months now and rather enjoyed the regular events and seen app stability improve. And the writing and world really is quite good. Unfortunately the most important endgame stat (Notability) is regularly reduced or reset to zero for mobile players only. Ive reported the bug multiple times but customer support takes weeks to respond that they are looking into it, says they will send compensation (which either never arrives or is immediately erased by the aforementioned bug), and then marks the situation as solved.

Best IF out there

Addicting

Great game, sub-par app

I earnestly love Fallen London. Its atmospheric and engaging and just really good storytelling. Unfortunately the app just isnt good. It can take five minutes to load, which is a lot when you consider that its just a text based game with images. And Im not even using it on an old phone; Im on the iPhone 6. The sync feature is finicky and though it sometimes works, other times it just loads forever or erases your progress. The interface is clean and neat and just looks really great, but just moving between different pages in game can take ages, and the app really gets tedious without the try again button available in the browser version. Its a shame because I really love this game. Altogether I avoid using his app when possible, and instead use the browser version on my phone.

Man, do I love this game

The gender option screen made me laugh out loud and its just been really fun playing. My one complaint is I got trapped in a storylet in which the required actions were beyond my abilities and there was no clear route of escape. Had to delete and reinstall.

TRAVELLER RETURNING

"Do you recall how we came to this place?" The most deliciously exceptional setting Ive ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Make your way through the Fifth City and make your name. But dont forget: far, far above, the stars still shine. And theyre watching. 10/10. My favorite game of all time.

6s (iOS 10.x)

Hats off for the continued support! Thanks, Failbetter!

Wont load

I get a "checking for latest images" and a spinning icon when I open the app...nothing else. Please fix this so I can at least try you app!

Great world building and story!

Its been a long time since Ive had a game on my phone that I actually look forward to playing, as opposed to the games I play only because Im bored waiting in line or something. Very interesting setting, and lots to do in this game. I highly recommend!

Game good, app good, update issues

I only discovered this game fairly recently, but Ive really enjoyed it thus far. The app has also made checking in and using all my actions much easier. However, with the most recent update, I have been unable to load past checking for content updates. This is my main complaint about the whole game or app; the game is very interesting, with deep and interesting storytelling.

Wont load

Love the game but, it wont load past the "Checking new content" Ill definitely give a better review whenever its fixed

Suspended Account

My account is suspended without reason. No communication. No support. Nothing. Update: Interesting, the company had a bug in its software--how would I know that? They accuse players of taking advantage of this bug and suspend accounts because of THEIR companys mistake/failure and have the gall to demand "proof" of purchases. Clearly their business practices reveal the companys dim world view and disregard for the consumers that use their product. They may try to convince themselves that players took "advantage" of the companys error and seek to punish players (such as myself) who were UNAWARE of what was supposedly occurring, but they have simply lost a customer who will NEVER use their products again. BTW, I did make purchases in the app, I always do and play ethically when I use apps and games. I fully understand that this company will take comfort in believing otherwise as its approach is so negative. I find it onerous that this company would choose to assume ill will rather than accept the consequence of a failed product. Good luck with such a shoddy approach to customer "service".
